If you are looking for a change of scenery and have £1,600,000 ($2,07,958 USD) lying around, then look no further. At least no further than Wales....lol. According to the property's listing, the Grade II, 15th century mansion, is considered to be one of Wales' "most haunted" homes.
Before we get started with who haunts Derwydd mansion, let me tell you about some of the fabulous features this historic home has to offer.
12,758 square feet
14 bedrooms
4 bathrooms
7 reception rooms
Approximately 8 acres
Stone cottage in walled garden
Now for a little background. This country estate was once the home of Sir Rhys ap Thomas (1449-1525) who became well known during the Wars of the Roses. He entertained Henry Tudor at Derwydd before Henry marched off to the Battle of Bosworth. Some claim, Sir Rhys ap Thomas was instrumental in the victory against King Richard III because he supposedly delivered the deathblow to the king with his weapon.
A few families have owned the home since Sir Rhys ap Thomas including the Vaughans, the Stepneys and the Gulstons which leads me to the ghostly apparition known as the White Lady who haunts this home.
The White Lady is thought to be Gwen Vaughan, a former resident, and her chilling tale has been passed down over the years. It is said she only appears to single men just before the death of the head of the family. She has been seen in Sir Rhys ap Thomas's room. And, they describe her as standing at the window, pointing in a certain direction.
